This is probably horrendous timing given that solid information in gaming magazines is due out kind of today, and this article in itself is old news, but I'm posting this as clarification many people didn't seem to grasp.

Concerning the Inquirer article. This is as yet unconfirmed (and equally undenied), so anything remains pure speculation, but this is based upon what the Inquirer article said, not what upon may or may not be (side topic; it's likely right.)

The Inquirer article is actually two articles, split in two with a pretty picture (Apparently of GW:Eye of the North. Seemingly, theres blurring the lines, and people mistaking information on Guild Wars 2 for information about Guild Wars [Original]: Chapter Four. So heres the summary:

Guild Wars [1] Chapter Four:

  • Named "Eye of the North"
  • Release date Q3 2007
  • Priced at less than the existing campaigns
  • Requires players to already own Nightfall OR Prophecies OR Factions.
  • Brings a plot finish to te events in Tyria after Prophecie's plot.
  • Is 100% oriented towards maximum level (20) characters
  • Offers 18 new mult-level dungeons
  • Offers 40 new armour sets
  • 10 new heroes
  • 150 new skills (of which 50 are PVE only skills, the remaining 100 are PvP or PvE skills like most existing skills)

Guild Wars [2]:

  • Full sequel to Guild Wars [1]
  • Released 2009-2010
  • Public Beta 2008
  • Is set several hundred years after Guild Wars [1]
  • Will have Zone-Wide events (Suggesting but not confirming large non-instanced areas like WoW's Alterac Valley)
  • Features a refined Control System (refined over Guild Wars [1]'s system)
  • Features selectable playable races: Humans, Charr, Norns, Asurians and Sylvarians
  • Features a set (but currently unknown) Level Cap
  • Offers 'more sensitive' character progression
  • Will have a graphics engine which will be brought up to date with 2009/2010 graphics developments (hinting at least at DX10 compatibility, possibly DX11)
