My epicly shiny new PC I loves it. Recently put together, so I thought I'd post the specs of the beast. Intel Core2Quad Q6600 Processor (Quad Core @ 2.4ghz 266mhz FSB, 9x Multiplier) ATi Radeon HD2900XT GDDR4 1GB (With Dual-DVI out and HDMI output, ofc) 2048mb of matched PC2-6400 Geil RAM (2x1024mb sticks in Dual Channel at DDR800) Abit IP-P35E Motherboard (Intel P35 Chipset, ICH9) 250gb Maxtor SATAII NCQ Hard Drive All housed in a ThermalTake Soprano Case, Powered by a Corsair HX520W. Running Vista Ultimate. Read on for PSU notes and Corsair praise. Building it, I've come across a few things of note. Power Supplies really aren't all about the wattage. At 520w, the Corsair unit is actually fairly lowly rated comparatively, but it's a rock solid beast. And it actually gives out all 520w. Many higher rated PSUs with claimed figures into the 1000W+ region would struggle to give anywhere near that. PSUs also tend to be rubbish, around 20-40% efficiency, the HX520W gives out around 80%+. Given how its powering a hungry quadcore processor and a very hungry graphics card (sidenote, the HD2900 GDDR4 version, while somewhat rare, draws less power than the equivalent memory sized GDDR3 version). It also has full 8pin suppport for HD2900s. Theres a higher end 620W version too if you really need it. Fun stuff, and I love my Pandatron. It's a beast. Rawr. |
